You can offically now hold your money for rent in escrow until the problem is fixed which means you withhold rent and put it into an account from the court until it is fixed if it is not you get that money for a plumber
Report to city/County health department. Then they either fix it or you have a legitimate escape from your contract.
Oh man that landlord is ******, generally what will happen is legally they have to fix that and if they don't eventually the whole place will be inspected and they'll have to bring everything up to code all at once. I'd bet money if something like plumbing is being neglected the other code violations are going to be insane.
