Filed under “consequences of your own actions”. Unless the person involved has laughed and/or enthusiastically expressed liking the nickname, assume that that’s a “no” and move on. If they did like it and want it to continue, they will tell you themselves at that point. See how easy it is to respect people and not run an already unfunny “joke” into the ground?
