And then.....

Today, I bought my very first car that I spent years saving for. A few hours after I signed all the papers, I let my boyfriend go for a test drive. He totaled it. FML

My grandpa said there are two things you never lend out: your car and your wife -- neither will come back the same!

Perhaps OP saved for years to buy the car outright, rather than signing up to pay years for it on finance.

If his name wasn’t on the insurance with you, then that’s your problem.

Very true, no one who is uninsured should drive a car.

Hopefully you can get another car with the help from your boyfriend.

you shouldn't be buying a car that takes years to save for. I hope he helps pay

still a bad idea. if anything goes wrong with a car you can't afford you'll be in a lot of trouble.

so you lost your car and got rid of a boyfriend the same day lol

had kinda the same thing happen to me bought a new car well new to me and was driving home after 5 hrs of it being in my name someone pulled out in front of me and I t-boned them

prolly wasn't the smartest idea to let him test drive it so ydi. then again, I don't let anyone drive my car unless it's an emergency.
