Twist in my sobriety

By Anonymous - 10/06/2022 20:00 - United States

Today, my group of friends officially cut ties with me. According to them, my girlfriend "has me whipped" and made me "boring", all because she helped me break free from my alcoholism and finally get sober (two years and eight months running). They told me to call them when I'm "ready to be fun again". FML

Congrats on your continued sobriety. And screw your friends who are a roadblock in your recovery. I hope you can find better, more supportive friends.

Congrats on: 1. Sobriety 2. A loving girlfriend 3. Getting rid of the douchebags in your life.

Drunks do have more fun. They have poor health, more DUI's, shorter life spans, diseases like cirrhosis, etc, but even so, they do have more fun.

look up Sinclair method. an alternative to AA it allows some moderate drinking + ongoing treatment

Congratulations that took a lot of strength. Those are not your friends if they cannot accept you bettered yourself.

I went through the same thing 25 years ago. I made better friends afterwords. Stay sober and keep up the fight

It sucks that you lost friends but it sounds like they were not really a good energy to have around you. Congrats on your continuing sobriety!

Congrats on your sobriety! Your friends aren't real friends. Your girlfriend soubds great. Find new people!

Drinkers and drug-users don't like when one of their own stops. It means they can't use the excuse that it's impossible.
