Probably because when you give blood samples at the doctors they ask you to fast for a certain amount of time. I have experience in donating blood but I guess if you’re a newbie I can kinda see the connection.

Are you trying to faint?? You want to eat a light meal before arriving. Fasting will just make you very queasy.

Also, the first time you donate can be tough. My sister and I tried to go into shock and turned bone white, and I threw up afterwards. But once you're used to it, it's no worse than a regular blood test.

I can't donate anymore because I'm chronically anemic and I can't handle a dip in blood calcium electrolytes from the plasma donations either.
