Panic attack

Today, I went to donate blood for the first time. When they stuck the needle in my arm, I had a panic attack and begged that they take it out. The woman helping me told me she'd take it out in a moment and left. It was then that the Red Cross stole a pint of my blood while I had a panic attack. FML

Wow. That really sucks. At least you didn't pass out! But seriously, who does that?

Seriously, #1? That's messed up, I feel bad for you. : I didn't know they could do that if you're not calm.

They can't. The nurse could face serious trouble for having so acted.

Donating blood *is* serious business O.o

he clearly stated it was his first time giving blood

Nowhere does it say OP is scared of needles. They could've just gotten worried and panicked.

There's a difference between being afraid of needles and being afraid of a pint of blood leaving your body.

Just think of the soldier laying out on the battle field injured and in need of blood. That blood could save his/her life and I think that's why they do these type of things. It's not a correct practice to do it this way, but they just want to get as much blood as possible. Just be happy that your blood could save someones life.

keep getting tattoos. then they don't want your [somehow dirty?] blood. that's the plan I go with and it works perfectly.

It's not that the blood is "dirty"......... When you get tattoos or piercings recently, youre more prone to infection.

They took my blood and I'd gotten tattoos in the past year. You just have to have them in a licensed shop and they have to be healed.
