I had to reread this like five times to realize that it was the boss who told you that and not your mom..I was so confused. Tell your mom what happened for sure.

If they don't want their insurance to go up, they can pay you out of their own pocket, but it was definitely their fault.

Unless it's her very first accident, chances are, whether it's her fault or not, her insurance will still increase because she was involved in an accident.
