Ur still stupid for giving her the money
Can you tell the cops she bullied you into giving her money?
OP that's garbage I hope things go okay for you.
if there's someone above her, contact them. it's illegal to force an employee to pay for a shortage.
that's all you're going to reply with??? please tell us the rest of the story. like maybe what happened with the cops? have you been fired? are you in jail? Did you die? what happened??
Clearly he didn't die- it's well known that typing is as repulsive to zombies as garlic is to vampires. Wait...
Giving her the money makes you look guilty. if there are cameras make her bring them up and show you the proof and if she can't then you need to sue or report her to corporate
the same thing happened to me. but it's considered extortion and you can take your manager and the conpany to court.
*company
look her dead in the eye and say "this is not appropriate behavior for this incident. Now how do you plan on rectifying the issue"
Agreed! And if they ever threaten to call the cops agree with them and say "yes please call them because I am being wrongly accused of a crime and being harassed, I want the cops here to find that there is no evidence of me having committed any crime and they can inform you how wrong it is to try and blame someone for something without any proof and then threaten them with their careers over it. Plus maybe the cops can figure out who was the person that actually stole the money!" Chances are the boss would've completely backed down after that and wouldn't have even called the cops. And if by chance they did, you could inform the cops of how you're being blamed without any evidence and threatened of losing your job. Don't let people like that walk all over you, if you stand up to them then they probably won't try it again.
You should have stuck to your story. By giving her money you admonished your innocence and turned it into a guilty verdict
yeah, handing over that 20$ was a huge mistake. I would have waited for the cops and let the manager make her stupid and baseless claims. As a matter of fact, I would've called the cops myself and say the manager was trying to pin a theft on you that didn't commit, and is trying to extort the 20$ out of you.
This needs a follow-up. I hope you didn't lose your job or face legal repercussions, OP. :(
She's a ****
Most likely chain of events, manager took the $20,-... accused you, got another free $20,-, then called the cops to give you the blame. And most likely at the end of the day the register is $20,- short and the manager has a nice $40,- and a free scapegoat for anything found missing. Moral of story, never admit to something you didn't do. If you didn't do it, and there is no proof then the cops will be your friends not your managers. On sidenote I always made sure I was at work with only my card and maybe some very small change nothing more.

You shouldn't have given any money at all. If you didn't do it then she can't prove anything.
Giving her your own money somewhat seems like you're admitting to her accusation. Sorry OP
