Today, I asked my grandmother to hem my prom dress for me. I'm her oldest granddaughter so I thought she'd be happy to do it. She said no. Her occupation is a seamstress. FML
Today, I spent my afternoon rummaging through old jeans and other pants, due to being broke and needing cash for ramen. FML
Today, some idiot introduced my grandmother to yoga pants. FML
Today, while I'm in the depths of postpartum blues and insecurities, my grandmother in-law gifted me a size 22 pair of jeans that does not fit her. I'm a size 12. I started crying and fake choked so that nobody would notice. FML
Today, I got the dress I gave to a tailor to replace a broken zipper back. When I tried it on, I discovered that they’d cut at least 4 inches of fabric, and being skinny, there’s no way I can ever fit into it. It’s from the 1950’s, inherited from my late grandma, who in turn inherited it from her aunt. FML
Today, I enjoyed a lovely family dinner, but my irritating grandma kept trying to buy my purse off me, and kept picking it up to look at it. When I got home I realized all my cash and cigarettes were gone. FML
Today, I found out my grandmother doesn't wear underwear when she bent over in front of me in her inappropriately short nightgown. FML
Today, at work, the seat of my pants ripped open. A coworker lent me a pair of his back-up jeans, and then those ripped in the crotch. FML
Today, I found out that my mother intentionally donated the quilt that I had made for her, because, "It didn't match anything". That was $70 worth of fabric and 7 and a half weeks spent on that handiwork of mine. FML

ok... 134 wow. That was the most stuck up comment I've ever seen. I pay $20 for a pair of jeans and they last me a good year or so without looking bad... I'd be more worried about your grammar than your sense of touch honestly. Some people actually know what money is worth and what their priorities in life are. If you think that people that wear wal-mart clothing are human trash, then I think you need to reevaluate your life. You're a brat and a bitch. Give me the $300 and I'll go buy 3 sets of jeans for each person in my family.

Buying $300 dollar jeans does not make anyone a douche. It's the people that go around bragging about it that are. And I highly doubt that this person does that, tbh.

Patches can easily be removed, if you want the rips. The only thing that sucks about your story is the fact that you put it online, because now anyone can read it and see that you're a) over privileged enough to care about your $300 torn jeans being patched and b) uninformed enough not to know that it's easily reversible.

I hate it when grandmas do stuff like that. Hopefully #148 is right about them being reversible. And to anyone saying that this person is supposedly "over privileged", what if they saved their own money for months to buy something that they wanted? I think it's disgusting that someone would judge someone just because they have something expensive.

that really sucks man. i buy designer jeans too and i always get teased by family that they are going to stitch the tears back together but i was never as unlucky as you to actually have it happen. my sympathies are with you.
