Today, my girlfriend of 3 years confessed that at first, she'd only dated me to get her friend jealous, and that even now, she "only kind of liked" me. I bought a ring only a few days ago, and was planning on proposing to her. FML

Today, my girlfriend of six years burst into tears and said yes repeatedly when I presented her with a ring. I then had to explain that it was a promise ring, not an engagement ring. She looked me in the eye and dumped me on the spot. Apparently, promise rings are for teenagers, not couples in their thirties. FML

return the ring for a full refund and buy yourself something nice like a quad or vacation. giving the ring to your future wife would be tacky. dump her and don't be surprised if she comes back cause she's too immature to recognize her feelings. you deserve better, and are so lucky!
