Today, it was my friend's birthday. She's been having problems with most of her friends besides me lately, so I wanted to do something special. I brought her a cake. Me and her were the only ones to have any. It gave us both food poisoning. FML

Same thing different taste

Today, I celebrated my birthday with my friend who has the same birthday by going out to dinner with a bunch of our friends. The waiter brought out a cake for my friend but not for me. No one noticed my exclusion. I sang happy birthday on my birthday. FML

Today, it was my co-worker's birthday but she told me not to mention it. Feeling bad for her, I went out to buy her a card, a present, and even a small cake. It turns out that there was actually a party during our lunch break, and I was the only one in our office not invited. FML

Today, I tried to cook a nice meal for my sister's friends. It turned out perfect and they enjoyed it, while I was in the bathroom throwing up for two hours due to food poisoning. FML

How...? I'm pretty sure that unless its a big runny mess in the middle AND the eggs in it were full of salmonella (the only potential ingredient and pathogen pair that comes to mind) OR the cake had gone absolutely rancid its not likely to happen... Not going to call shenanigans since it could have come from something else, but I wouldn't blame the cake...

how did you get food poisoning from a cake? It doesn't have anything that can really go bad unless the cake was made with pastry cream in between the layers or the icing was made with raw egg whites and you have a really low immune system.....
