Today, I went to a restaurant with my friend, where my credit card got denied in front of everyone. The staff teased me and made me sit in the restaurant while my friend begged for money outside. FML

Today, I got into a heated argument at a restaurant with a guy I am seeing because he refused to let me pay for the bill and I thought it was sexist. When he finally agreed, I gave the waiter my card, only to have him return a minute later telling me it was declined. FML

Today, I was waiting in line while a lady paid for her shopping, when her credit card got declined. She started ranting and insulting everyone and kept insisting: "I'm not poor!" By the time the lady had finally stormed off, I had spittle on my face, and the cashier was almost in tears. FML

Today, I was dining out with friends. I saw a mom instructing her young child to go to empty tables and take whatever cash had been left. I discreetly told the manager. He confronted the woman and pointed right at me. As she was being thrown out, she tossed a very heavy mug at my head. It hit me. FML

Today, my horrible parents turned up to the restaurant I work at just to mess with me. Dad forgot his wallet, what a surprise, and asked me to pay the bill. I refused so my manager got involved. My dad got arrested, I got fired and might lose my lousy flat if I’m late on the rent. FML

Today, I overheard a waitress calling me a cheapskate because I left a $2 tip on a $9 tab. When I told her she was ungrateful, rude, and unprofessional, she burst into tears and told the manager I’d threatened her. I was then banned from the restaurant, all while the little twat smirked. FML

So this restaurant lets its staff tease and ridicule in this situation? After being treated like that, I'd be talking to the manager about making the meal free. It's embarrassing enough to get declined; the staff were just being dicks.

I've actually had this happen. In my case it got declined because the bank put it on hold for "suspicious transactions".

If it was a balance issue, check it before the next time you go out. Otherwise, you may need your card replaced or something. But I agree that the staff was ridiculously unprofessional and rude. You should take everyone's advice and call their cope eat office or at least go back and speak with a manager, though managers often couldn't care less.

Can't believe the way the staff treated you. Sometimes card transactions get declined even when there is money in the account, it happens at my work. They should have at least let you go to an ATM if there was one nearby. Their behaviour was totally uncalled for.

What kind of restaurant staff embarrasses a customer just because they have no cash at the moment? Somebody needs to get fired, and someone needs to get the meal for free in that situation.
