Today, I was working at the pharmacy and had a older man come in. He was buying Viagra and, by law, we are required to ask if the patient had any questions. His lovely response was, "When you coming over so I can test this stuff out?" His wife and daughter thought it was hilarious. I could've died. FML

That's ****** up and all, but how could you have died? Or is the joke going over my head.

I don't find that very funny. Even if he wasn't being serious, some jokes are alright, and some aren't, and the audience and setting is important. You were being professional an following procedure, and he took advantage of it and basically said "I want to have sex with you." If I was his wife or daughter, I wouldn't laugh, I'd be mortified, talking to a stranger and employee like that and making them feel uncomfortable. That's inappropriate, and older people shouldn't get a pass on that stuff just because they're old, they're adults too, and unless they have a condition, they should know better. Sexual harassment isn't ok.

It's just a saying that equates to being extremely embarrassed.

It went over, circled and went over again.

Of embarrassment, I'd figure

FYL, I once had an older woman in early 90's come into the clothing store where I work and ask for thigh high boots, a teddy (lingerie), and a thong. She was with her grand daughter too and I thought she was kidding... She wasn't and even said that old ladies get some too! I applauded her LOL

It's all fun and games until they start flirting with you. Cute can turn into cringe pretty damn fast!

No sexual harassment is not ok. But it was obviously a joke. I'm sure the old man was not even remotely serious. Besides that I'd even the wife and daughter were laughing that's a sign. It's not a "pass because he's old" yeah she was being a professional. But he is not required to be. Though I'm sure all sex based jokes are harassment far as you are concerned.

No, it was sexual harassment. By allowing people to "joke" about something inappropriate (that also obviously embarrassed the employee - who, at their JOB, can't just escape from the situation) it normalises sexual harassment; it has the message that sexual harassment is not only acceptable, but laughable. Regardless of whether he "intended" what he said or whether he "wasn't remotely serious" and "not required to be professional," it still does not make this an okay and acceptable "joke." And joking about having sex with someone isn't a joke anyway; it's harassment. Why is this such a hard concept for people to understand?? This sort of behaviour is NOT okay, regardless of age OR intent.

We have gotten way too loose with the definition of sexual harassment. That was NOT sexual harassment. People need to lighten the f up.

I am done with the ignorant replies on this comment that I keep getting notifications for by people who have no idea what appropriate behaviour is. So let's look at definitions why don't we. Sexual harassment, definition: harassment in a workplace, OR OTHER professional or social situation, involving the making of unwanted sexual advances or obscene remarks. This old man did BOTH of these, 1)unwanted sexual advances, joke or not they are still sexual advances and he did it in a way where the OP did not immediately know he was joking, and 2)obscene remarks. That is not "too loose," on the definition, that is literally the EXACT definition. You DO NOT make obscene sexual advances towards strangers like this, period, joke or not, especially when they're working. If you are a customer, YES, you are to remain polite and professional towards the employees, because even as a customer, you are still required to act a certain way, you are not allowed to act however you want. If you think making sexual remarks towards strangers, regardless of intent, is appropriate behaviour, you need to get some ******* education and grow up because you clearly didn't make it passed the maturity of a 12yr old. I make sexual jokes all the time, but here's the thing, I KNOW MY AUDIENCE. I make them towards my, friends, boyfriend, and family, these people know me, they know my intentions and understand I'm not serious. A stranger doesn't know any of that, they have every right to be upset by what I say because we don't have this understanding or bond. There's a time and a place for these jokes, towards strangers, especially at their place of work, IS NOT one of them.

Tell him in about four and half hours to see if he has that erection that requires medical advice (aka pointing and laughing.)

LOL made my day wha made the joke okay to me was the fact that his wife and daughter were there listening our culture is full of viagra jokes and this one was great too bad you were so embarrassed that you couldn't come up with a quick reply I'm sorry our company policy prohibits that kind of service

Well at least we know he has a sense of humor?

neuronerd 28

Yes, because sexual harassment is hilarious. /sarcasm

Oh my, who brings their daughter to buy Viagra!

An old man that possibly can't drive, needed a ride to a doctor's appointment and the pharmacy to fill any Rx from the appointment.

Bearsmomma: You mean that he possibly can't "drive" (only) a car, right? lol

I bet feminists would have a field day with this guy

You kidding. They've already had their way with rage dislikes on the comments of people who see this as funny and not actual sexual harassment.

I'd have refused him service at that point.

species4872 19

you cant refuse someones medical needs dipshit.

Next time he comes in, no Viagra for him.
