Did you get better benefits? That's usually the reason your pay goes down after a promotion.

If a 'promotion' pays less than the position you already and you were forced to accept it it's a demotion with no just cause and it's within your right to contest it, even after accepting it.

Mmmm, no one can force me to do anything I do not want to do, else LAWYER. I was surprised to see "New York" as the location and not somewhere like the middle-east where you have 0 rights as a human and people can actually force you into anything

That's how my moms ex manager was. He was a nice guy but not a very good manager so they had to move him after one too many problems so he got semidemoted
