Today, I was desperately handing out resumes. I came to my local grocery store and asked for a job application, the customer service rep told me all she needed was my resume. I smiled and gave it to her only to see her read it, laugh and put it straight in the garbage as I walked out. FML

Today, I filled out an application for a job at Dairy Queen. I handed my application to the manager along with my résumé, and he said he'd be in contact with me. Not even five minutes after I left, a friend who works there sent me a picture of my crumpled-up application in the trash. FML

Today, I applied for my first job. I didn't know how to write a resume, so I copied and pasted one from someone else and reworked it. I got on the bus, handed it in, and left. Then I remembered I forgot to change the contact info and date. FML

Today, I went to a job interview. I never applied for the job, they'd sought me out, had a phone interview, and sent samples, all before the face-to-face interview. Turns out none of the people I met with had even read my resume or writing samples. I was told I might not be a good fit. FML

Today, I had my first job interview in years. While I was waiting for the manager to come out I realized I had forgotten the resume that I had printed out the night before, since he specifically asked me to bring one. FML

Today, I handed my resume in to a cafe that was hiring. I returned home and noticed a voicemail, it was one from the boss for a trial. I eagerly returned the call, showing my enthusiasm. Without thinking, I ended with "ok love you. *GASP* ah, BYE" and quickly hung up. FML

Today, I spent two hours filling out an online application and questionnaire for a potential employer. The application stated that there were no right or wrong answers and to answer truthfully. I was automatically rejected. FML

You may want to revamp that resume of yours. There are government programs that can help you with that, youth centers, job connect, etc. Or google resume layouts and sell yourself (I know your mom told you not to, but as long as it's on paper and not the corner, you should be good)

No, he was (perhaps) overqualified. Just read an article about this kind of stuff today in English class. 0.o A little hard to understand, but I think that's what happened. The article also mentioned just removing some things to make you look "a little dumber" may help you get a low-paying job such as the one mentioned.

Hey, does one need a PhD to work in a grocery store nowadays ? WTF ? I mean, whatever the resume, unless it's written in klingon or in goa'uld, she had no right to laugh at it, especially since we're in recession and her turn might come anytime, she too could get "disposed of". Don't let mean people bring you down.

Did you proofread you resume? If not, do it. Otherwise, you may want to volunteer somewhere until you get enough experience on that resume to get you paid...

I'd report her to the Store Mgr...point out that if she treats people that way and she's the CS Manager, you sure wouldn't shop there. Nor your friends, parents, etc...everyone you're going to tell about your experience.
