Today, I spilt purple washing detergent all over my white carpet. Desperate to get it up I grabbed a blue towel and started mopping it up. The detergent hasn't stained the carpet at all, the blue dye from the towel has. FML

A detergent that stains would be pretty ineffective... Lol That sucks, though.

Put some food coloring on it and make it a rainbow?

They sell a powder called Capture that should get the dye out. It's at places like Home Depot, good luck with that!

wow. really? Why would soap stain?!?!?!?! The purpose of soap is to remove stains! wow. p.s. Resolve will get the blue dye out. Works great.

Dude. That's like spilling soap on your dishes and then trying to scrape it off with metal and being surprised at the damage. That... was pretty asinine.

I don't care if it HAS been said many, many times... You were afraid of cleaner staining. And again... YOU WERE AFRAID OF CLEANER STAINING. I hope, in time, you'll realize what a fool you've been.

Lol @ #100. Hate to say it but s/he's right. Did you never wonder why the purple laundry detergent didn't stain your clothes when you washed them in it? Haha. Kinda weird that the towel stained your carpet though. You should get rid of all those towels and get new ones. You kinda deserved it for having white carpet anyway. Who has white carpet?

new towels (in fact, even new dark clothes) frequently need to be washed once before being included in a washing load with other clothes because there could be excess dye that washes out and stains everything else in the wash. Don't need to throw them out.

Whatever it is, Oxi Clean is here to help!

Why the hell did you think a DETERGENT would contain a staining dye? If I had to spill something on a white carpet, detergent would probably be the #2 thing I'd choose after water.
