And to everyone saying that detergent doesn't stain, that's not entirely true. If you spill detergent on carpet or clothes an leave it there the whole day, it will stain, which is why she had to get it out of the carpet immediately. She probably acted on instinct and grabbed whatever she had closest to her, so I agree.
the detergent (if it is laundry detergent) would be more likely to draw dye OUT of the fabric it is on, rather than put dye into it. That's why you don't put your detergent onto the clothes in your washing machine then let it sit for an hour before turning the washing machine on. Some have very slight bleaching properties. Being a white carpet, I don't think she had to fear bleaching.
laundry detergent is made to clean fabric therefore YDI, why would it stain something? it's made to make stains come out and you dont wash dark colors with light colors, therefore fail!
you thought that detergent was going to leave a stain? has it stained your clothes? moron. ydi
...Wow.
What white-carpeted room were you wielding detergent in?
People who get white carpeting deserve what ever stains appear. Next time you go carpet shopping don't be a dumb ass, get something that doesn't show stains as easily.
... you said "desperate to get it up" lolz
Why would detergent leave color? Have your clothes EVER come out the same color as the detergent? YDI.

A detergent that stains would be pretty ineffective... Lol That sucks, though.
Put some food coloring on it and make it a rainbow?
