It was nice of you to help but it was way too much to put your arm around her. I would have freaked out if I was her, you could just said something without making physical contact. But her boyfriend also overreacted, it's no reason to break your arm.

True, if I was the girls boyfriend, and saw that, I would have been pretty damn pissed, but I would have probably said 'What/who the **** is this?' or 'What the **** is going on?' and giving some time for an explanation, not straight out break the poor guys arm. But It's true that no good deed goes unpunished I guess.
