Today, I learned where my mom's "special hiding spot" that I'll "never find" for the Halloween chocolate is, when I preheated the oven to make cookies. FML

You should always check the oven before preheating it. I store some pans and other baking supplies in there, so I have to pull stuff out of the oven before I use it.

My mom thought me before using the oven to always check and make sure it was empty. I guess i know why she never thought you this.

why didnt OP just check the oven before using it? my mom has a small kitchen so she is in the habit of keeping pots and pans there because she has no space - ive learned the hard way to check the oven :D

Yes it does suck, but you kind of deserve it for not checking to see if there was anything in there first lol. In all seriousness, I hope cleaning the oven isn't too much of a pain
