Today, I found out my upstairs neighbors filed a noise complaint against me for banging on the ceiling every night. They conveniently left out the part where they constantly stomp, shout, and do stuff that sounds like they're dropping bricks to the floor every night. FML

Today, my downstairs neighbours screamed at me for making so much noise that I woke their children up and made them cry. The noise was the sound of a loose floorboard shifting as I crept to my bathroom, and again on my way back to bed. They've sworn to get me evicted. FML

Today, my neighbors in the apartment above me yet again had a loud fight, well past midnight while I was trying to sleep. I stood on my bed and pounded on the ceiling to shut them up. And now I'll have to explain the two fist-shaped holes in the ceiling to my landlord. FML

Time to move out

Today, I'm spending $1,400 on rent each month to hear my upstairs neighbor walk from one end of their apartment to the other, and then back again. This occurs pretty much all day and all night. Yesterday I woke up at 3:30 a.m. from the banging of steps. My other neighbor played his music so loud, I felt it through the wall. FML

Today, after having to call in a noise complaint about my downstairs neighbors talking loud past midnight, the managers fixed the problem. Now all I can hear is two little girls who like to throw a basketball at the building for hours. FML

Today, I realized how nice it was that, after moving into my ground-floor apartment, I no longer have to worry about being too loud walking on the floor at night. Today, I found out that my upstairs neighbors do not have any qualms about shouting or stomping their feet loudly at night, either. FML

Today, and for months, my upstairs neighbor has been stomping on their floors, hard enough to shake our walls. We thought it was their child, but found out it’s the mother. She took up running, and due to the pandemic, she does it in the living room. She's already been told to stop. Repeatedly. I work 12-hour nights. FML

Today, my batshit crazy downstairs neighbor threatened me with "legal action" for making too much noise. According to her, it’s "illegal" for people in upstairs apartments to use vacuum cleaners, therefore I must sweep my carpets to avoid disturbing her and her imaginary guests. FML

Today, yet again, my upstairs neighbor can’t stop stomping. It’s troubling. There are random noises and thuds at 3 a.m. I've emailed the leasing office several times to no avail. I even told the leasing office that I didn't care if my neighbor has insomnia, I really don’t, I just have to be up at work by 6:00 a.m. every day. FML

Today, I've suffered 3 months of my neighbor blasting his music so loud, it shakes my apartment floor. None of my noise complaints are ever followed up, but the moment I give him a piece of my mind, he calls the cops, and they threaten me with jail time over a few curse words. FML

File a complaint yourself OP or record them making a lot of noise. If you have evidence like that theres no way you wont be taken seriously.

Sounds like my current and previous upstairs neighbors (that's right, I moved and had people that run and jump and bang around above me 24/7 move in above me again). Unfortunately sometimes management has their hands tied it seems and can only talk to them until something breaks. This is why my next move is to the top floor corner and then to a house.

Our college dorm has the same problem. Many nights my roommate and I can't sleep because of the noise from upstairs. Maybe you could record the noise as proof, which shouldn't be too hard if it happens that often

Oh my god I kinda know how that feels... When I was on holiday, in the hotel I was staying at, the people staying above me would run around and stomp at 1-3am when we were trying to sleep so we chucked shoes up at the ceiling really hard to get them to shut up. Sometimes it actually worked?

What sounds like a war for you might be something simple. Do they have pets? Kids? Are they more heavyset? If it was a radio blaring or screaming that's one thing but they might not realize how loud they are being meanwhile you are the crazy f***er under them that's always hitting the celling. I will admit I'm not always mature but even I know that it's childish and is bound to make problems worse

Record it, show the landlords/owners, and let them know that it is the upstairs neighbors that are basically river dancing or doing a rendition of STOMP above you.

Or you could walk up to their door like and adult and ask them to keep it down rather than banging on the ceiling like and idiot. If that doesn't work. Then complain.
