Today, I found my daughter sobbing and trying to stick a wad of gauze to her vagina. She was having her first period. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Cycles of life
Today, my daughter got her first period. I'm the one shaking and hyperventilating. I'm more nervous for her than I was for myself back when I got my first period. I just now understand my mom while she was pacing through house back and forward when I got my first. FML
Help needed
Today, my daughter got her first period, so I went and got some products for her, certain that I knew what was needed. The lady cashier took one look in my basket and sympathetically asked if it was my daughter's first period and if I wanted help, since I clearly had no idea what I was doing. FML
They grow up so fast
Today, my daughter said she would never ever have kids because then she'll bleed through her vagina or get stitches on her stomach. She turned 7 last week and learnt this at school from friends. I'm yet to have the "periods" talk with her. Now I'm scared to start it. FML
Today, I got my first period. My dad bought me a card and had everyone in my family sign it. FML
Today, I asked my dad to take me to the store so I could get some feminine hygiene products. When we got there, he went running down the aisles yelling, "Help! My daughter's bleeding to death! Where're the tampons?!" FML
Today, I found out my 12 year old daughter is going through a bit of an "emotional" stage. I got a call from her school saying she was sitting in the corner at recess trying to cut her wrist. With a plastic spoon. FML
Today, I overheard my 14-year-old daughter telling her friend that she's saving money to get her hymen surgically removed so her first time won't hurt. FML
Unexpected
Today, my stepdaughter unexpectedly got her first period during a visit. I explained everything to her, then took her to the store to buy supplies and snacks. Her mother called and cussed me out for “stealing” this experience from her. Yeah I totally planned it to happen this way. FML
Today, my mom sat on a pencil and started bleeding. She then made me clean the wound on her butt and put ointment on it. FML
Today, I found out that I puke and then pass out at the sight of blood. I am a 16 year old girl expecting hundreds of periods to come. FML

**** your daughters life. I'm a guy and I can't imagine bleeding out in my genital area and not knowing what the ***** going on just imagine all the things that could be going through her head. I'd do more than cry. You should have taught her about periods atleast. I can't blame you though because she might still be young and you couldn't have known that it would come so soon

Hey, there are worse ways to handle your first period. My mom found me sobbing in bed because I woke up in a puddle of my own blood.

Yea...I knew what a period was before I had my first one...hopefully you've told he about the birds and the bees so Ashe doesn't get pregnant at 15

That's why you need to ******* teach your kids about stuff like that. Seriously, YDI.

The poor dear.....if she had been taught about that portion of life he wouldn't be scared to death.

I'm sorry, how is this a FML situation? Im no girl, but just from common sense, even I can tell that it would be an extremely ******* scary time in a young girls life...

My faith in humanity has been restored reading these comments. I was outraged when I first read this post by your cavalier attitude towards your daughter's trauma. You act as though it was a minor inconvenience for you to witness your daughter's concern and terror over a bodily function that you could have easily explained to her beforehand. Getting your first period is bad enough without not knowing what is happening to you. At least most people--judging by these comments--understand that.
