Today, I decided to take a nap while listening to my iPod, on the lowest volume possible. My girlfriend woke me up by turning the volume all the way up. I still can't hear out of both ears. FML

sorry OP, but headphones are built to a code that dictates they cannot cause that kind of damage to your ears. fake but thank you for the entertainment

Certain peoples ears are extremely sensitive. it wont permanently damage them from that few second but it will cause temporary deafness which can last a few hours (if not more.)

Please specify the exact code, or kindly STFU.

FarSide, common sense should never need to be proven. I'm sure #40 doesn't have access to each earbud manufacturer's safety specifications, but if you had a shred of intelligence you probably could have guessed that. Common mp3 players certainly go well over the threshold of danger for long-term hearing loss, but you can't possibly believe companies would willingly release a product that could leave you temporarily deaf for a while with just a flick of your thumb, can you? That's what those of us with common sense call "bad for business".
