Today, I came home to find that my girlfriend had repainted my bedroom. As she had offered to do it, it shouldn't have been a problem. However, she decided to return the several unopened cans of off-white paint that I'd bought for something "more neutral." Like "Sunset Orange." FML

Today, my boyfriend told my roommate about a trick he had used by filling nail holes with toothpaste when he moved out. When I came home with putty to fill the holes, there were blue spots all over the walls. She had filled them with blue gel toothpaste. Now I get to repaint, too. FML

Today, I finished painting my living room. I had to leave the house in a rush. When I got home, I found smears of paint all around and the carpet crusted with paint that had dried. My cat had rubbed up against the walls and tracked it around. FML

Today, my husband has been painting our house all weekend and plans to finish the job after work today. I decided to surprise him by completing the job myself. Painting the last window frame, I dropped the open tin of white paint, right onto our car roof. FML

Today, my parents dropped by my new house, and my mother offered to tidy up for me while I was out. After they left, I noticed that her "tidying up" included throwing out all the pictures of my girlfriend and replacing them with pictures of herself. FML

Today, I painted my daughter's room with the new paint we bought. It's an oil-based paint which hides all blemishes on the wall, but apparently makes me sick. I'm now throwing up everywhere, but at least the room looks good. FML

Today, I was painting my bedroom walls, when I was struck with an uncontrollable bout of diarrhea. I had to watch helplessly from the en-suite bathroom as my 2 year old daughter painted a lovely picture for me, all over my new $500 sofa. FML

Sounds pretty and cheerful. As a real estate agent I see so many houses painted boring old white, inside and out. Boring!

White sure is boring.. But I think sunset orange is a bit too much, it would give me an headache if the whole room was in such a colour. Maybe add a few walls with white or another neutral colour.

Exactly. A room in my friend's house, and an office at my brother's university are both painted bright orange. The colour is pretty intense, and has been known to give people headaches if they sit in them too long. Having an intense colour also isn't good if it's in a place you're supposed to relax/sleep. The girlfriend may have thought she was being nice and "surprising" him, but it's actually incredibly inconsiderate/selfish. It's not her room to play interior decorator in.
