Today, I adopted a dog from the local shelter. I put the dog in the car and he was shedding everywhere, but I was ok with that because he was my dog. As I pulled into the parking lot, the dog began to poop in the backseat of my car. When I got him out of the car, he ran off. $100 for him to poop and run away. FML

Today, on the way home from the dog groomer, my great Dane had a bout of diarrhea in the car. I slammed on the brakes and my other freshly shampooed dog slid off the seat and into the pile of crap. FML
Today I adopted a dog. He ran away the same day. FML
Today, my dog pooped. In my lap. While I was driving. FML
Today, I took my car into a car wash. I guess it was a bad idea to do it with my dog in the car, because he freaked out, started scrambling around, and ended up pissing on everything, me included. FML
Today, my brother and I drove 3 hours to pick up our puppy. The woman we bought him from said not to put him in the cage for the ride home as he would pee for sure. She recommended I put him on my lap. Not only did he shit on the seat backing out of her driveway, he pissed on me an hour later. FML
Today, I went to a pet store to adopt a dog. I got a medium sized lab, a dog crate, and a few toys, then put his crate in the back of my truck and the dog in his crate. On the way home I realized I forgot dog bowls and some dog food. I went back, and when I got back out to my truck, my dog was gone. My stereo too. FML
Today, after frolicking in some long grass near a lake, my dog got back in the car smelling strongly of poop. Upon further investigation, I discovered that a sewer had overflowed in the area. My dog rolled around in human faeces. FML
Today, I was working with some shelter puppies transporting them to the vet's. I got all of the puppies in but one, and when I went to pull him out, I realized he had gotten car sick. Before I could stop it happening, he wagged his vomit-covered tail and hit me in the face. FML
Today, I went to my father's house to get my dog, since I had left it with him while I was on a business trip. When I got there, my dad said the dog pooped on the floor a few days ago, and so he took him to the pound. FML
Today, I found my dog, who had been missing for over a month, at the local pound. Clearly it was my dog, she responded to her name and cried when she saw me. However, the woman there told me I could not simply take her, I had to follow through with all policies. I paid $250 to adopt my own dog. FML

Awww!! You should really have put it on a leash, shelter dogs can be crazy at first lol. Are you positive you'll never be able to find him? :(

if you adopted from a shelter, most of them are microchipped now. It's part of the adoption fee. And as everyone already stated if you weren't smart enough to think to put a dog on a leash, you don't deserve one. Just because you paid for him doesn't make him realize you own him.

Aren't you going to go look for him? You don't spend 100 dollars on a dog, get pissed, sigh, then post about your pet fail on a website. And why wasn't the dog on a leash or in a carrier? You obviously don't know enough about animals to know what to do. Poor dog was probably freaked shitless, no wonder they ran away. It's an automatic response. They don't "know" you.

I like how everyone assumes the OP didn't use a leash or was being irresponsible. I used to be a dogwalker and know how easily a dog's leash can slip, or how a dog can overpower a person. Especially if the dog is scared or under a lot of stress. Any way, good luck finding the dog. You may want to get help next time you transport a new pet, though.

Lol that happened to me before.. Got a new dog and it had puked in the car and then when we got home trying to get him out the car the dog ran. haha.

If you did the responsible thing and micro chipped him/her, then he shouldn't be too far away from your collection. If not, YDI. #3 has a good point as well!
