Today, after a week of searching, I found my escaped snake. In my umbrella, outside, after opening it over my head. FML

Just so you all know, I am not afraid of my pet snake. The FML was a mixture of a) the snake had been in an obvious hiding place, a dark enclosed space, all along. And b) because anything that falls on your bloody head outside is going to give you a fright! He is healthy and happy, he didn't die, and has not escaped since! :) And as for all the St.Patrick comments.... 'driving the snakes out of Ireland' was a metaphor for the Catholics driving all of the Pagans out of Ireland. Of course there are real snakes here.... actually pagans too. Well there ya go! lol :) x

And that's why you shouldn't keep snakes....

Snakes don't really make very good pets IMO because they NEVER bond with their owners and CONSTANTLY try to escape!

That's not true. My snake has never tried to escape.

That happened to me, but my snake was dead

at least its not like the four snakes that found their way into my house that are NOT pets

I learned something new today, thank you FML.

Smart snake. It knew to hide in the umbrella because even snakes in Ireland know how unpredictable the weather is there.

This is crazy because I tried to post a similar Fml yesterday about my snake escaping! I was tearing apart the house trying to find him only to eventually discover that he'd burrowed under his water bowl.

125, You had a snake escape. Other than that, nothing much is similar...

It's similar in that a snake escaped and both of us hunted for it only to find it in a weird spot. Not to mention I tried to post my snake story right at the same time this person did. Don't see the need for the attitude.

How did he manage to get outside?!! I was freaked out when my lizard got out of his tank and we were moving the next day so everything was all packed up and I unpacked everything in my room searching for him. Found him in the box right under his tank door after I gone through everything an was almost crying cuz I couldn't find him. Scared the crap out of me!!

He took the umbrella outside and opened it, and the snake fell out. Normal people dont usually open umbrellas indoors..

I fell asleep on my couch and mine escaped, I was devastated :'(, then we found her about 3 months later caught in a roach trap but other than that she looked healthier than when she escaped... we had been wondering why we had no mice problems that year lol

What kind of snake was it? I'm glad the babe is okay, my ball python got out for a few hours (found her under the bed!) and I was worried sick.

A week? That snake won't be fun to be around for some time now...

I was just going to ask if your snake was sill alright, but you've followed up, and I'm glad to hear he/she was!
