There's no such thing as attempted manslaughter. Manslaughter is accidental, you can't attempt to accidentally kill someone.

That's not true, manslaughter does not mean accidental murder, manslaughter is defined as "The unlawful killing of a human being without malice or premeditation, either express or implied; distinguished from murder, which requires malicious intent." Attempted manslaughter is like this, you get into a heated argument with someone and end up beating them with a baseball bat to within inches of their life before the cops arrive, it's manslaughter, but the individual didn't die, so it was an attempt. So the truck driver had no intent of killing the OP, but might have come dangerously close, and can be tried for attempted manslaughter.
