The economy blows

Today, I left my old job and started my new one, which came with a hefty pay raise and better benefits. Previously, I was a lab analyst performing research, which required a college degree and several years of work experience. Now, I'm a gas station manager. FML

Congratulations on the new job, boss! You can always do lab analyses at home, as a hobby.

Are you happier? that is the real question. followed by did you get some firearm training for when you work night shifts?

I work as a skilled trades painter. I do all custom work for a high end wood shop, talking million plus dollar homes. my brother loads trucks and makes the same as me plus benefits and sick pay. it isn't about what you do, it's about how much the company values you. we make the sameish but I have a much larger job pool and security. My skills are used in multiple trades, he only cared to learn to load trucks. I am sure you will find something better in your field.
