The downside of nepotism

Today, I thought my dad was finally showing interest in the business I started last year when he asked about my next event. Nope, he just wanted to know if I would hire his step-granddaughter. Her first question? "So, I won't have to do any like, real work right?" Gee, thanks Dad. FML

Pay her in Monopoly money. If she doesn't do any "real" work," she won't get any "real money."

Just tell her that she doesn't have to work, "You just, like, won't get real paychecks."

Dude I own a business, and I can't tell you how many times I "really should have hired my little brother". First day on the job he tells me to shut the **** up. Fired his ass lol.

REALLY hope you had this conversation with her BEFORE you said yes to hiring her...

If she doesn't want to do real work tgen maybe you should hire her at minimum wage and put her in the supply room. just tell her to count.

its your business. do what is right for it. hire her to clean the bathrooms. as an unpaid intern.

As a fellow business owner I'm going to say YDI. Unless you can afford to pay for a deadbeat on your staff you should tell the girl to get lost and tell your dad it wasn't a good fit. Family interference can sometimes make or break a business. Your dad may not know that but you should.

So, OP deserves to have her on his staff? Yeah, I highly doubt that, and what makes you think he knows nothing about business?

It never says OP hired her. For all we know, this was said in an interview...

the appropriate response is, "do you want any, like, real money?"

Family is there to support you, to love you and to drive you crazy.
