That stupid saying should die

By screw my grades then right?! - 02/03/2022 16:00

Today, I was doing homework in the living room when my mom came in and started blasting music and cleaning. When I asked if she could turn it off so I could study, she bitched at me about "My house, my rules." She also has a rule that we can’t do homework in our rooms because of too many distractions. FML

Jesus are toxic narcissistic parents that common these days? I’ve seen a lot of shitty stories like this and it’s really fucked up. Are there more shitty people now, or were there always just tons of fucked up parents but now we have the internet shining more light on them? Wondering if anyone has any insight on this. Sorry, OP. Idk what to tell you as she is technically right. You could tell her to go fuck herself and finish your homework in your room, but that would undoubtedly make things much worse for you. Is there another adult you could talk to about it? Dad, aunt, grandparent? Many will dismiss the concerns of a child even if its valid, but suddenly see the error of their ways when they hear it from another adult they respect. As an aside, I’ve experienced this shit in the workplace too. Damn this world sucks. I mean, it gets better! Hang in there, OP! Keep up those good grades, move out, and change the world! 😄💪

Definitely always been around, and we just have the internet to shine a bit fat spotlight on those who never deserve to have kids

much like child predators, the internet shines light on this crap...and yes, toxic parents are more common than you'd think.

Pretty unfortunate :(

Toughen up! You need to be able to focus and block out distractions. Your mom is teaching you to be strong!
