Today, in the most polite and friendly way I could think of, I told a friend that she's slightly too dramatic about things. She started throwing a fit, deleted my number, and ended our seven-year friendship. FML

Sounds like she thrives on being dramatic or just has a legitimate over reaction problem. I know 2 people like that and my life has been much brighter since they've cut themselves out.

Evidently, it was not as polite and friendly as it needed to be. I suggest you get a karaoke version of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" and substitute the lyrics to "Drama Queen," a song you'll have to write. That will be polite.

sounds like you dodged a bullet

"Fatal" bullet, yes; but still subjected to 7 years of collateral damage, so good riddance!

Sounds like what happened with me and my best friend. Except she’s more hypocritical while being dramatic. You’re not alone!

Unfortunately for her, you're better off without her, OP. Life's too short to put up with repeated, childish behavior from (selfish) adults. :-)

She made it easier for you. Time to have more free time without having to listen to her rants

She clearly proved you wrong.

You mean, she proved them right?

Sounds like she took care of the hard part for you

Dude, take the win

My question is after 7 YEARS of friendship why did it suddenly start to bother you? You've been friends for this long and it's only now bothering you? What changed?
