Not trying to be rude but clearly, many of you don't know much about the internet... Cellular data towers are connected to the internet through wires, just like our home wifi systems. The only difference is that they are a huge towers that have the capability of reaching farther ranges than our wifi boxes can. Now it is possible that the OP or the OP's internet provider (cellular or home internet) had an emergency backup of satellite internet. But satellite is really slow and expensive so they'll be doing anything they can to get their internet cables repaired.

Let's be honest. A single cut cable can't take out a nationwide internet provider. Any competent provider would have servers set up across the country in major cities that are separate from each other. That is of course unless it's a provider that just provides in one general area of the country and the representative was exaggerating

Saudi Arabia has some insane terrain, let's hope the damaged area is reasonably accessible! I'll pray for you O.P. and everyone else, that not being connected doesn't have any life or death consequences. *The conspiracy theorist in me wants to connect a story I read in the WSJ about the C.I.A. not telling our President crucial information (acting without oversight) and this story.

happened to us while back.. (Sri lanka) some indian idiot ship captain dropped the anchor on the fiber optic cables and poof.... no internet for whole country... took around 2 to 3 months to fix it...
