Today, it's my birthday. We were supposed to be going to a nice Italian restaurant at 6.30 p.m. Instead, the whole region is going into a snap lockdown from 6 p.m., due to the recent community transmissions of Covid-19. Happy Birthday. FML

Today, I just learned that instead of celebrating my birthday as a small group, my mother has invited dozens of family members from all over the Germany, amidst spiking Covid cases in my region. FML

Today, it's my birthday. With all the lockdowns and curfews, my inner introvert was looking forward to enjoying a delicious meal and a bottle or two of wine by myself. My friends had other plans, namely a surprise Zoom party. Nice thought, I'm grateful for my friends, but I hate using Zoom. It went on for three hours. FML

Today, it's my birthday. I'd planned an outside party in my backyard, and I'd invited all of my friends. Only 2 of them showed up. It also rained today, even though it wasn't supposed to. FML

Today, it's my birthday, and my coworkers gave me a $75 gift card to a restaurant chain near my house. Later in the evening, I found out the chain of restaurants abruptly closed. All of them. FML

Today, it was my birthday. I set up a dinner party for 20 of my closest friends. I arrived at the restaurant, fully dressed and everything. When I got there, I thought everyone was ready to surprise me, but instead, nobody showed up. FML

Today, after weeks of looking forward to my birthday trip to the beach, I've come down with a serious case of the flu. My family is still going without me, but at least now they don't have to pay someone to watch the dog. Happy birthday to me. FML

This has happened to nearly everyone I know! (me included, the lockdown started 3 days before my birthday). I got to go out this year anyway, I hope you do for your next birthday also...

both my 29th and 30th birthdays we were in lockdown, it definitely sucked, but we made the best of it! I'm not super fussy about my birthday anyways but for me we just ordered some yummy take-out, some bubble tea, and diaper duty was off limits for me that day 🤣 normally I like to go on a little shopping spree at thrift stores around my town but those were closed so I bought a few things online. I hope you can still have a good birthday!

My birthday is March 13 and pretty much all of the US shut down on my birthday last year. So…I can relate. Hope you were able to enjoy your birthday anyway!
