I discovered Mystery Science Theatre 3000 in 1989 while making out with my then girlfriend. It's not that I didn't like her and didn't enjoy making out, but I confess that the magic of MST3K was too alluring. I ended up paying a lot more attention to the TV than to her. Might help explain why she later dumped me.
