Today, my daughter tried to make pasta by putting a pot on the stove, pouring the noodles in without adding water, and turning on the stove. Then she asked me, "How come these aren’t getting soft like when you make them?" She’s 19. FML

I can see why this makes your kid look stupid, she could have atleast read the box. But if she's never done it before and you've never TAUGHT her (since you or your spouse/partner were the ones who always cooked) then it's a learning experience. Some pasta boxes actually don't tell you to boil, it just says "Cook 10 min, Al Dente 9min". Also assuming you know what to do. Parents. Please teach your child basic cooking and cleaning. I hear so many sad stories like this, even moreso of kids leaving for college and they don't know how to use a WASHING MACHINE.

lmao I'm 19 and made an even dumber mistake. I once put PRE-MADE steak in the microwave for 4 minutes...some people are just not made for the kitchen.

while I agree it's a parents duty to teach their child the basics it doesn't mean her daughter isn't a moron. the girl is an adult I doubt she's never once seen pasta being boiled.also as someone who grew up with the internet it's really not hard to google something your parents haven't taught you
