Management balls-up

Today, I was fired for not completing the required computer training, which no one told me about. I was told that it's my responsibility to check it every week. It would have been nice if a single one of my supervisors had given me any indication whatsoever that this was the case. FML

I got in trouble recently for not completing "Cyber Security Training" which tells us about dodgy emails and how to spot them. I'd deleted the email because it looked like a dodgy link. Apparently so did many other people.

surely there should be some sort of disciplinary procedure or even just a warning... Firing seems a bit harsh

That's probably just a lame excuse. The real reason they fired you is that they require privacy when they poop.

Well that's what I said! I have three fundamental rules. 1. do I know the sender/company? 2. am I expecting this email/does it make sense I have received this? 3. is it specifically asking me to click a link and telling me I have to and if I don't something bad will happen? the email brought up red flags on all three rules. I said they should be concerned about the people who clicked it without thinking about it.

I honestly can't think of any job where you don't need to know some basic computer skills. Like oh I don't know sending an email to your boss wondering why you're not doing anything

Thought the same thing, and that’s not even a basic computer skill that’s just common sense. Like, “hey I just started this job, and haven’t seen any instruction... oh well let’s keep doing nothing.”
