Today, I learned that I'm expecting twins. A boy and a girl. My husband, upon finding out about this, immediately suggested that we give them Star Wars names. But not Luke and Leia. Oh no. He wants to name them Darth and Vayda. And he is absolutely serious about this. FML

You may as well have a lawyer on retainer for when they both want to change their names on their 18th birthday. Vayda is actually kind of cool. At least he doesn't want Yoda or Jar Jar.

Oh dear. Hope you told him where to shove those suggestions.

Why don't you counter his nerdiness by naming them after characters from Star Trek instead? Like Spock and Uhura (probably spelled that wrong.) :P

I swear every guy I've ever dated has the most retarded names picked out for his future spawn ): Must be a guy thing...

I've met girls that have wanted to name their kids some weirder things than this, but thanks for the stereotype

I actually really like the name vayda :)

I think it's cute! I don't see how this is an fml type of situation. If I were having twins and my husband really wanted to name our kids that I would definitely consider it. They're really not that bad of names Especially Vayda, that's a really pretty name. If you really hate them (which it seems like you do) try to come up with some other names you think your husband will like more. Maybe he'll change his mind by the time the babies arrive. Either way, congratulations! Hope your pregnancy goes smoothly and your babies are born healthy and happy :-)

I could see him wanting to name them Luke and Leia, fine, but that's just stupid

Congrats on the twins - let him have fun getting all those silly suggestions out of his system. You have months ahead of you, and time enough to convince him otherwise. Find great names yourself, and see how his measure up. Let him think about how it sounds when you guys call them as kids, how it sounds when they are applying for their first job, and how each name stands on its own. Even twins don't spend their entire lives together... If all else fails, play the "i have carried both of them for 9 months i've earned the right to veto those names" card. But ... the cooler you stay now, the less he will fight for the bames later. Good lick!

When I and my middle brother were little boys and learned that mom was expecting a third boy, we immediately began asking her to give him names like "Oogly boogly" and whatever other nonsense. I was confused and kind of ticked off when she, apparently out of spite, disregarded our pleas and gave him a normal name.:D
