Eh, it's overrated.
At first, it's flattering to be asked to take pictures, but it soon gets tedious.

I've been married for 11 and I've never asked my husband if he wanted one either. Nor has he ever asked me if I wanted him to take mine.
Maybe It's only weird because you've never had to ask. I usually just take pictures anyways without asking, as I know I'm getting an image of him candidly. He does the same for me too! Now, if you've both neither taken pictures of eachother before, or she's never done it; this makes more sense for an FML.
But not everyone really cares about pictures or picture taking, they'd rather just enjoy the moment!
