Growing old is a shipwreck

By Sad Son - 22/08/2024 23:00 - United Kingdom

Today, I visited my Mum. She has invited me to visit her before, but kept cancelling whenever I tried to arrange an actual visit. I finally went over anyway, only to find her in a soiled nappy, room in ruins, with kidney failure-induced dementia. Sometimes they hide it well over the phone. FML

I hope your Mum has carers or nurses to help her. Get yourself some therapy, too.It is horrible seeing a loved one like this.

Make sure that your mom’s insurance has not lapsed, if so fill out the necessary paperwork. Make sure to fill out the necessary paperwork so she can get whatever the UK’s equivalent of social security is if it has not been done. Check her finances. Get her to a doctor. A nephrologist should be able to tell you what stage her kidney failure is, and can it be fixed. She will also need a primary doctor. I am so sorry. I am going based on stuff I saw when people would find their relatives in disarray with dementia after they put their parents they physically would not care for in a nursing home (I live in the United States). Most other countries just get a nurse and if possible work from home. good luck.
