Giggles McGee

Today, I managed to not laugh as a potential high-profile Italian client with a heavy accent repeatedly pronounced "sheet metal" as "shit metal". Unfortunately, my boss and a senior colleague couldn't contain their own laughter. We lost that deal, and our jobs are now endangered. FML

Good for you that you didn't laugh maybe you have a better chance or keeping your job?

I don't believe any working person should be so 'thick yet narrow' as to even find the initial circumstances worth a laugh. Selling is listening is communication is making sales, after all. You'd probably want to sell to anybody, anywhere in the world. It isn't complicated. YDI.

#44....Humor can be found in most situations. That does not make the OP unprofessional or bad at his job. Laughing out loud in that situation, however, WAS unprofessional and even though his superiors were acting like Beavis and Butthead....he was not. Btw, being arrogant in your comment doesn't look good on you. I hope you aren't as condescending with your clients.

You should have laughed anyways. It's disgusting and unspeakably rude to get mad at someone for laughing- a natural involuntary bodily process. I have no faith in humanity any more. So close-minded.

So you believe that it's polite to laugh at someone who can't help their pronunciation of certain words because of their accent? Are you by any chance retarded?

redundancy is not funny. shit metal is funny.

You were professional OP, and I can see it's funny. But not so funny that a grown ass adult shouldn't be able to control themselves. FYL for working with immature higher ups

Yikes. I'm sure I'll be in this situation sometime down the line, but let's hope it'll work out for you
