Today, a customer violently ranted how people in Latin America are "nothing but filth" compared to the “clean, civilized” people of "Anglo countries like Australia and New Zealand." All because I told him that flash photography is not permitted. If that’s not bad enough, the police were unwilling to do anything. FML

I apologize as an American for some of my truly idiotic countrymen/women. My experience has been that usually the more stupid, ignorant, and low class the person is; the more likely they are to claim some sort of racial or national “superiority”… My theory is that if you have nothing to distinguish you in talent, education, or personality then some may claim that at least they’re better than someone else based on something they think they were born with. But all it shows is how low class they are.

Yes, the USA was mostly originally settled by Anglo Europeans (once they pushed out the native inhabitants) plus other Europeans and enslaved Africans… I assume OP is originally from Latin America. The jerk was probably an Anglo-American, but for some reason used Australia and New Zealand as their examples of Anglo culture or it was what stood out in OP’s memory of the incident. The location shows as USA, Columbus.

Violently ranting is not a thing, and ranting is not illegal. So what acts of violence did the police ignore?

Why would the police do anything about that? Being a jerk is not a crime. Arresting someone for saying something like that is a crime. The world is a better place when we have freedom of speech and it helps you to know what people to avoid. Also the racist remarks go in all directions. Let's just make sure they don't come from us.
