Are you sure it's not "We like him and not you"? That's what it seems like to me.
I can see a few possibly explanations: (1) Brother is better at manipulating parents to get what he wants. (2) One or more of your parents like brother better than you (or Dad is living vicariously through him.) (3) Parents feel safer with you in a dorm where there is someone “in charge”.
While I agree with Chazzster‘s possibilities, I read this differently. I read it as the parents having faith in OP’s abilities to get through school with struggle, but have no faith in the brother and they feel that the only way to ever get him to attempt to pass school is to pay for everything else. I could totally be interrupting this wrong though. If this is the case, that’s still really messed up even if they do have faith in you. I hope things get better, OP
