Today, despite the fact that I live with my parents and pay rent, my mom decided the best spot for my brother, his wife and one-year-old son was my bedroom. So I'm sleeping on the couch, because it would, "take too long to clean her room." FML

So clearly you now get to ask your rent money back from those people living in your room and stop paying rent until you get back the living space you're asked to pay for. Don't let them walk all over you.

They're her parents' guests, not hers. She's paying rent so the patents can't just put other people into her room that she pays for. Even worse that the only reason for that is that her mom is too lazy to clean her own room.

Don’t pay rent for however long they are there. If your parents ask why you didn’t pay the full amount explain why.
Or you can be an adult and let the your brother and his wife stay in your room with there (assuming) young child. And crash on the couch for a short time.

That’s insane to call OP childish in this scenario. OP likely did not have anything to do with allowing extended family to stay. They are a TENANT to their parents, whether you believe it or not. This means they shouldn’t have been kicked out of the space they rent.

First off I realized later after I posted my comment that the child was 1 years old.

Second assuming the brother, wife and child are coming for a visit. The op can sleep on the couch for a couple days. And not make their mom clean her room and sleep on the couch.

If you were in the same position what would you do? I’d know I’d sleep on the couch.

Yea what you do for family is inviting people over and throw your child out to sleep on the couch just so that you don't have to clean your own room. Makes sense.

I guess that during this time the level of rent you are paying is going to be reduced.

As long as they are they don’t pay rent. Problem solved. Shave off any money you want for the inconvenience. As landlords they can’t do that to you because you’re their child. They’d be in the wrong if you were a stranger & they’re in the wrong now.
