You should tell them what the others are saying, "Oh, you want me to do this? I thought I was supposed to do this different task because so and so said...?

"Your job is to come in early and make coffee, every day.." "Don't forget about the pizza!" "Oh, right! And you're in charge of bringing in pizza every day for lunch..."
