Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat

Today, my son's school actually called me to complain that despite his excellent test scores, he spends too much time reading, and has a wilfully overactive imagination, so could I please get him to stop ''reading and imagining'' so much, as it makes him hard to teach. Are they taking the piss? They must be taking the piss, right? FML

I see schooling hasn't changed since the 90's.

Time to find a school that fosters creativity and overly curious minds. Won’t find that in the public school system but depending where you live you might be able to find an alternative school with good facilities and staff.

They could have a point if the reading and imagination is spilling over into his school work time.

they don't want intelligent, free thinking students. that's not the doctrine of public school. mindless, undereducated and easily manipulated children become mindless, easy to control adults

I went to a private school where this was encouraged. I'm also a public school teacher, so you're probably going to have to find another school.

Reminds me of my experience in the early 80s… when the teaching staff treated me like garbage. I ran into one of the culprits yea a later at a store and she apologized profusely and said “We just didn’t know how to handle you. You were too advanced and scared us.”

Well to be fair, the saying everything three times. three minutes apart thing is kinda weird. :p
