Today, I had to tell my daughter that just because markers say "washable", it doesn't mean that you can draw all over our newly-painted walls. She's 15. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I had to explain to my daughter that just because it says non-toxic on the crayons, it doesn't mean that you should eat them. She's 16. FML
Freeze peach
Today, my kids decided to draw on the walls with permanent marker, and now my house looks like a modern art exhibit. FML
Picasso in training
Today, I discovered my 3-year-old daughter's artistic skills. She managed to draw an elaborate mural on our living room wall. The masterpiece? A stick figure family, including our dog, but instead of a tail, he has a second head. She of course used permanent markers. FML
Today, I came home from work to find my five year old daughter drawing unicorns on the wall. The same wall that I had to repaint last week because it had puppies on it. FML
Duchamp would be proud
Today, my five year-old niece thought that it would be acceptable to carve her artwork all over our toilet seat. FML
Roommates from hell
Today, I got home to the smell of permanent marker and the discovery that my roommate's little sister had drawn flower petals around every polka dot she could reach on my walls. I just put up the wallpaper last weekend. FML
Parenting fail
Today, I left the living room for 3 minutes to make a coffee. When I went back, my 4-year old had found a permanent marker, God knows where, since I don't own a permanent marker. She'd then drawn on her face, the carpet, wall, sofa, both dogs and as an added bonus the TV screen. FML
It's the thought that counts
Today, my toddler proudly presented me a "beautiful drawing" he'd made... on my freshly painted living room wall. When I started to scold him, he said, "But I made it for YOU, Mommy!" Now I feel guilty for being mad at Picasso Jr, and having to paint over it. FML
Can't take my eyes off you
Today, I babysat my niece and thought a quick shower would be fine. I left her watching cartoons with a blanket and returned to find she’d used washable paints on the carpet and her hands, leaving tiny colorful footprints to the couch. Her proud smile made me forgive the mess, but I spent the evening scrubbing. FML
Today, my daughter asked me if we could make sticker art. Of course I said it was OK so she went to get some stickers. I wondered where she was going when she walked into the bathroom, but I didn't ask. I left the room and when I came back, her paper was blank and my pads were stuck to the wall. FML

but that would just wipe off.. even sharpies come off of glass with a little alcohol.

Yeah, but it'd still be inconvenient as a punishment

Called a parenting fail.

Not necessarily lots of kids end up doing dumb shit regardless what the parents taught them. As you get older it's assumed you know better. Though apparently not, kids taking selfies hanging from trees and smoking pot before going into a court house. I don't think there parents figured they had to say something it's assumed.

@18 At some age you can no longer blame the parents. Yes, it IS their fault when the kid is a child. But at some age the independence and ability to rationally think for yourself begins to form in a child. When that happens, the child must take responsibility for their actions -- and is no longer a child. Fifteen is about when that starts (though they aren't capable of fully rational thought yet -- hence why we don't allow them to choose marriage at 15, by themselves, in ANY country that has sense).

At #22 sadly, common sense isn't so common anymore.

Lack of common sense = parental fail

Can't really blame the parent at that age the kid should've known better. Same if the kid was dumb enough to stick something in an outlet at that age or didn't know how to make toast. Lots of dumb kids in videos one of my favorites are the kids drinking flaming shots and his hair or shirt caught fire. If they don't have somethings figured out by the time they are a teen one has to wonder about the person and how they survived that long.

usually if a 15 year old is writing on a wall it is called vandalism. Maybe she thought she could vandalize the wall and get away with it because its washable.

Yes parents have to be strict but still let kids have fun

is she making an adverdisement for a paint company?
Rallred32 20
Why would she be making an ad on her own wall in a house.
FitForFun 11
No offense but unless your daughter is mentally handicapped you might need to get her some help. That's a level of stupid I have never even heard before.
katties 27
You can see a greater level of stupidity just a few FMLs down - look for the one about bath salts.
FitForFun 11
Okay but there are levels and ranks to stupid. Like there is doing stupid stuff, then there is just being plain stupid. This is a level of plain stupid that is hard to reach.
lotr4 18
How did that seem like a good idea to her?
lexiieeex3 32
Maybe she'll understand how "washable" the markers are when you draw all over her electronics.
weveallbeenthere 30
was it the walls in her bedroom? she needs an big drawing pad.
ohSNAPyall 27
She also needs to express her artistic urges by repainting the walls.
