Today, I missed going to my boyfriend's stepsister's wedding. I would have been meeting my boyfriend's mom for the first time; now she doesn't like me. She figured I could just "tough it out". I have a chronic health condition and haven't been able to eat or get out of bed. FML

I'd sit back and wonder what the future holds if she is already acting like this

If she's already acting like this, and especially while you have a VERY good reason for your absence, she was bound to have this attitude anyway. Hell, she was probably waiting for the first opportunity. She's not a nice woman regardless of anything you do or don't do. If you want to go the long haul with this guy it's good to set up boundaries with this woman as early as possible so it doesn't affect any marriage that might come from your relationship. Also pay close attention to how your partner reacts to her rudeness towards you. Do they allow it? Do they stand up for you? These are very important things to keep in mind for your future together. If he has her back despite her acting like a ****, chances are you won't ever come first and will have to put up with BOTH of them treating you like shit.
