Very much "hands off" parents

Today, my son had an excessive nosebleed, like I did when I was little. I called my parents to ask what the name of the surgery was that I had to stop the bleeding. They don’t know because they don’t remember me needing surgery for that, OR when I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. They remember my brother’s though. FML

I know that doctors will occasionally cauterize blood vessels in the nose to stop excessive bleeding, was that it? If not, is obtaining a copy of your medical records an option? This sounds awful and I hope you'll manage to get this sorted soon.

my brother had his nose cauterized to prevent that, that's probably all it is

An Ear Nose and Throat specialist would know what needs to be done. I had a lot of nose bleeds as a kid and I think the ENT specialist I was taken to cauterized a spot in my nose. More recently, a few years ago my wife was having nose bleeds and the ENT specialist cauterized a spot in her nose. It’s a common procedure and done in the office.
