Today, my roommate is being evicted. Since we had some very good memories together I was sad to come home and see all of her stuff gone...and half of my stuff, too. FML

Hopefully, you'll see the other half of your stuff, and she'll see two halves of a police officer.

File a police report immediately, that's theft. I really don't understand what goes through peoples minds, did she honestly think she would get away with this? 1) you pretty much immediately know it was her when you come home to find your stuff missing and her gone, and 2) once you file a report, since she's connected to you, it shouldn't be that difficult for the police to find her. Good luck, hope you get your stuff back soon and your ex-roomate gets charged.

Should've gotten her a farewell gift

A police report would be the appropriate "gift" in this case

File a police report, NOW. Don't feel guilty or hesitant for it. She stole your shit, she deserves to be punished.
If the total worth of stolen items is above $1000 I believe, she can be charged with grand theft. Do it.
