Today, my parents went to the Cayman Islands, leaving me at home in freezing Iowa. Also, even though I never get into trouble, they don't trust me enough to be home on my own. So they hired a babysitter to stay with me until they get back. I'm 17. FML

Is he or she hawt? If so, you know what to do. Turn the babysitter into your own personal ho.

There's a reason why they hired a babysitter. I think you may be lying about the " never getting in trouble" part.

Your parents just wanted one damn week to themselves when they could **** all they want without your selfish ass cockblocking them. You want a vacation? Pay for it yourself.

His main complaint isn't that he wanted to go on vacation, but that he still has a babysitter when he thinks he's old and responsible enough to be left to care for himself.

She* OP is a girl. Look at the sign on the title.

Stop bitching. They went on a nice vacation for themselves. I know its extremely hard to realize until you become a parent yourself, but think of all the years they have paid for EVERYTHING you have. And it may seem they dont care, but they do. I love to have breaks from my son but there isn't a moment when hes out of my sight that Im not worrying if hes being fed ok or napping comfortably enough. Your parents deserve the vacation alone they are giving themselves and since youre not with them, they are insuring your safety :) Parenting is a win and lose situation. Give them a break lol

Nicely put. It's impossible for kids to understand why parents do what they do until they become parents themselves. Since I've been a father, I can't tell you how many times I've said, "So THAT'S why my parents did/said that!" I even used "Because I said so!" once. I felt so dirty afterwards.

I laughed at that, too. How can a nap be uncomfortable? (I know what you meant though, heart.) Yeah, parenting is a thankless, relentless, tiring job that I love. I enjoy and earn my infrequent breaks and I spend every other minute worrying about my kids. OP's parents probably just wanted to be sure OP would be okay. It's not about mistrust.

actually, You are quite right about that. it feels fairly decent outside. yes I know my grammar is off, it's due to my phone, and my extremely short break at work.
