Today, my husband finally decided to help with the laundry. He washed a pen and it exploded in the dryer. FML

I've heard guys admit to deliberately messing up on housework- particularly any chores they feel are 'too girly' for them- so that their wife, fiancée, or girlfriend (or any family members) won't ask them to do it anymore. Not saying that's what your husband necessarily did, but if he's had a tendency to mess up at stuff you ask him to do, you may want to consider it. (Not to mention my own brother admitted to doing it to one of his friends, so that our mom would stop asking him to do stuff and so I would do it just to avoid the hassle and stress of cleaning up after his **** ups.) As to the ink- soak some cloths- or better yet, a towel- you are willing to throw away in vinegar, pop them in the dryer on high for about ten minutes. Let sit for five minutes, open it and wipe off all the ink that will come off with another vinegar soaked cloth and a dry one. Repeat until clean, resoaking the fabric being used to steam the dryer as needed. (Also, this is kind of obvious, but just in case: even though bleach and hair spray are touted as "hacks" to clean ink stains, DO NOT put either in the dryer. The bleach obviously will ruin clothes, while the hairspray can outright catch on fire while the dryer is on, or create a large fireball when the dryer door is opened.)

Could have been worse. A ***** could have exploded in the dryer

The pen may be mightier than the sword, but it's no match for the dryer!

At least it wasn't a giant ***** that gets revealed in an embarrassing situation.

He is adding color to chores, what's not to like?

Let me guess: he was doing a load of white clothes when it happened?

just did that last week. didn't know it was in my shirt. it happens. he'll remember (as will I) to check pockets now.

My dad has done this so many times. He always has a pen in his pocket and forgets to take it out.

Lol .... u should choose ur husband wisely...??

I've seen many people just assume others would magically know what to do when doing something for the first time (especially if it's been a while or they never did it). I can just imagine the OP yelling at her husband asking what kind of a moron doesn't check the pockets. But really, it's something you need to learn as you do it more and more. Agreed, some guys mess it up on purpose to get out of ever doing it again, especially to avoid fights and posts like this, because the moment they screw up for not doing something the perfect way she's been doing it "forever" then you are the "loser" or "moron" etc... naw thanks, I'd rather avoid that entirely and screw up once to avoid the rest of my life being berated whenever I try to be helpful on my own.

I agree with you but hopefully the husband has a least done his own laundry and can do so at his age without ******* it up. Same goes for cooking it was something complicated I agree but people should at the very least be able to make hamburger helper by themselves by the time they’re in their teens if not 20s .
